Less Database, More Notes – February 20, 2026

Hey everyone, today I’d like to address a somewhat thorny topic, but I think it’s quite necessary.

I’m extremely happy with the audio blog; I often see people consulting it, or at least taking an interest in it. And I’m overjoyed to see people following it. But… there are some elephants in the room.

Okay, it’s a great project… but they’re still game assets. Always highly appreciated, we never deny that. ABSOLUTELY NOT MONETIZED, I’ll always emphasize that. But as much as it may limit the download… they’re still audio files😬. So I want to address this point by point with a clear head.

  1. Why are you thinking about this? With the latest update, I realized… it’s huge. I’d love for it to be as big as a wikia… but I’m noticing the risk is starting to increase. A lot, too. And this clearly worries me. We’re talking about an atmosphere of tacit tolerance, never absolute legality. I haven’t had any external pressure, but there’s always a reverberating “they haven’t told you yet” that I’ve usually put aside for… well, to cultivate this passion;
  2. But isn’t what you’re doing the same approach as Fandom (wikia) pages? Basically, yes… but after studying the topic a bit in the last few days, it has a Safe Harbor system behind it, which, unlike a solitary user (me), is much more carefully monitored about what can be checked for an encyclopedic archive. The wikia network has rightfully earned this precise knowledge on the internet. This doesn’t mean they aren’t subject to a certain tolerance from Blizzard regarding content. It’s not Nintendo… but we’re still talking about legal tolerance.
  3. What do you want to do? Shut it down? Possibly not, but something definitely needs to be scaled back. It’s absolutely right, being on the internet, to take this awareness into account. I’m still a gamer who started this project out of passion, not to replace direct listening IN the game;
  4. What could be eliminated? Essentially, as much of the superfluous as possible. Perhaps in repetitive or generalized communications, in general actions, in the abilities I recently decided to introduce. It needs to change to make it much lighter;
  5. What do you want to keep? The interactions, all those notions that tell us how to unlock a specific voice line, the scenario in which it activates. This is the true value of the blog, the component with which I set out to start this project and which I believe the community appreciates more than anything else, giving value to the game itself and the curiosity surrounding it🧡;
  6. Do you have any ideas in mind for not completely throwing everything away? Actually, yes: I could approach making listening videos (set to “private”) on the various parts of the audio databases, like Proto VI and lootward,do, avoiding the unpleasant issue of “direct files.” But this is still purely theoretical; I’ll highly likely apply it to the skin audio;
  7. Would you be completely covered from legal risk? Probably not, but I significantly reduce the legal risks, and rightly so. In fact, I want to increase communication that this is a purely fan-made and exhibition project, with zero profits and no malicious intent toward the developers’ work (or, at least, the game’s talented voice actors). This aspect of “The Omnic Reporter” will NEVER be monetized.
  8. And how would the audio blog approach users? I’d like to maintain the strong inspiration from the Trivia Section in Fandom quotes: curious notions come first;

So I decided to follow a different philosophy:

“Less Database, More Notes”

I felt like sharing this thought with you, which I’ve had for quite some time now, and I’d like to act more consciously about it. Anyway, thanks again for listening to this blog. There will be less audio than before… but still with some special discoveries from our favorite video game 🥰.
